About Stapleton & Stapleton

All criminal cases are unique. A different defendant. Different facts. Different judges (well, sometimes.). We are Ed Stapleton and Sara Stapleton Barrera and we have practiced criminal defense law in South Texas for a combined 65 years. We have defended thousands of individuals, faced dozens of prosecutors and judges, and seen more factual situations than we care, or can, remember. 

We know the criminal justice system can be very short on justice. We are very passionate about defending the rights of every defendant in every case. We know how devastating criminal charges can be and how challenging it can be to understand the arcane legal terminology and the seemingly massive and inexorable state machinery of (in)justice when it is applied to a single individual.
